TrakPak® Training for Nurses

Instructions

Patient Boosting and Transfer

It may be required to keep patients in traction while boosting and transferring, depending on instruction from the Orthopaedic Team. If patients require continuous traction, you can pull manual traction by either:

  1. Holding up the water bag and pulling
  2. Removing the water bag and pulling from the bow handle

Ensure you are pulling in the direction of the ordered weight and that the black tension bow remains elevated off of the leg.

If continuous traction is not required, the weight and ropes can be removed or held out of the way while the patient is being boosted or transferred.
